Unsanctioned Unofficial Game Pass Game Club voting thread for cycle starting 7/25/2022

Hello and thanks for your interest in the Unsanctioned Unofficial Game Pass Game Club. If you don't know what it is you can see more about the Game Club here. There is also where you can suggest games for future cycles, though this current vote will stay with the games listed below.

To vote in this thread simply list your top two choices with one labeled choice 1 and the other labeled choice 2. Choice 1 gets 3 points and choice 2 gets 1 point. The game with the highest point count wins. If there is a tie then I will break it, but I will not be voting otherwise.

You can vote even if you have not participated in the Game Club (and voting does not obligate you to participate but we ask that you not vote if you have no interest in participating) and you do not need to vote to participate in this or future cycles. You are also free to vote for games you are interested in and not participate if that game does not win, though it's more fun if people are willing to try games they may not be initially interested in. To avoid "ballot stuffing" I may, at my discretion, throw out the votes from new accounts that don't have prior posting histories on this site, though if one or two people create new accounts to vote that's fine (provided you do not have another pre-existing account.)

Voting will close on July 25, 2022 when the next game will be announced. I will tabulate the votes then so you may change your vote at any time prior by editing your post. Please do not make multiple voting posts in this thread, though discussion is encouraged. You can feel free to campaign for the game you want to win and make arguments why it is the best choice.

Games for which there appears to be interest will remain on the list in subsequent weeks but may be cycled out if we reach a point where there are too many nominated game for orderly voting. Games removed from the list will remain eligible to be nominated for future cycles at which point they will be put back on the list.

NOMINATED GAMES:

Telling Lies (FMV investigation game, somewhat hard to explain but based around asking questions to try and figure out a central mystery, approx 4 hours long)

Paradise Killer (3D investigation/visual novel game set in a psychadelic paradise at the end of the world. Approx 14 hours long.)

Olija (Cinematic action platformer with a dark story and an equal mix of combat/platforming. Approx 4.5 hours long.)

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Shredder's Revenge (Homage to classic Konami TMNT beat 'em up games with online multiplayer and various modernizations. Very much like an update to games like Turtles in Time. Approx 2.5 hours long.)

Escape Academy (Escape room based puzzle game. Approx 4.5 hours long.)

Power Wash Simulator (A...power wash simulator. Power wash a bunch of different areas for the ultimate in good clean fun. Approx 21.5 hours long, so this would take more than 2 weeks.)

2. Power Wash Simulator, because I have played WAY too much of this the past week

On PWS - I think you can get the gist of the game with only a little gameplay, but there certainly is a throughline in career mode. Mostly I want to discuss why the hell this game keeps popping up and grabbing people’s attention and time, now that I’ve also fallen into that cycle.

as someone who has put over 24 hours into PWS in the last week i don't recommend it due to just how long some of it takes . no real pull for me with the other options atm tho

Good to know I'm not the only one that has lost like a day to PWS. Jesus that game.

@sethmode: I was like “oh this is a perfect podcast game” and I’ve played a podcast maybe 10% of the time. I’m pretty sure I went full lizard brain while playing the game.

@allthedinos: 100%. For me, I was listening to an audio book and I realized that I had sort of zoned out for a minute so I had to pause and go back. I paused, did something else I can't recall, then picked up the controller and just started playing again without ever restarting the audio book. Something like 9 hours later I looked at the clock and it was 4 am. Lizard brain most definitely.

I'm interested in
1.) Paradise Killer
2.) Telling Lies

I'd be more excited for the other titles if I hadn't jumped into them already. Also hi this'll be my first time attending and also first time doing more with the GB community, wanna kick the lurker habit.

As someone who has completed the full campaign of PowerWash Simulator and quite enjoyed the story and where it goes - I ABSOLUTELY DO NOT RECOMMEND PLAYING THIS GAME FOR THE CLUB. Took me 70 hours (of quiet concentration, mostly) yo.

(if you intend on finishing it, that is. you could always look up the story online I guess)
